 STAYCATION AT THE HIGHLAND DALLAS

Good morning and happy Monday! I recently had the opportunity to have a staycation at the Highland Dallas. This being my first real staycation in the city, I didn’t really know what to expect. All I knew is that I was excited to have a change of scenery and get out of my own house for a little bit. I think the part I was most looking forward to was ordering room service – that’s one of my favorite things about staying in a hotel. I KNOW I’m not the only one that feels that way. I had actually never been to this property before so it was a completely new experience for me. I live for any kind of new experience. Check out how stunning the lobby is in the picture below? Love the natural light that shines through the windows, it makes it so inviting for guests! Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the hotel from the moment I walked in until the day I left. The staff was so accommodating and friendly! The nicest hotel concierge even took my picture when I first arrived – had to post on the gram about my staycation of course!

I’m going to walk you guys through a TO DO list while staying at this property. First off, let’s discuss room service. STRONGLY suggest room service, and why wouldn’t I? Isn’t that single handedly the best thing about hotels? My first night at the hotel I ordered in and let me just tell you that the avocado fries are by far the best I’ve ever had. I was so content with my glass of red wine and delicious food that I literally just relaxed and stayed in my cozy room the entire first night. Sometimes you just need a night to yourself to sit around in your robe and relax…and that’s exactly what I did. Speaking of my room – the décor was very eclectic and I was a big fan of how it was furnished. I honestly need to know where they got the gorgeous bedside lamps from! I may know how to put an outfit together, but I admit I’m the worst at interior design. So it’s always fun to see it done right. Dallas Highland does it right.  Back to the food real quick – the room service selections are actually from the hotel restaurant, Knife. Just for the record, ALL the meals I had during my stay were spectacular. Top notch in every way.

Another great thing about the Dallas Highland is the rooftop infinity pool. There are cabanas to hang out in and a full bar to keep you hydrated throughout the day. One of my good friends, Jaclyn, who is also a blogger (@myviewinheels) joined me and we had the best time just hanging out at the pool. It’s kind of imperative to be in or around water during Texas summers – hello temps reaching 100! The pool was actually really crowded that day but there were plenty of seating areas to find a good spot for the day. Personally, I can’t go to the pool without having a delicious cocktail in hand. The poolside margaritas were amazing, I definitely recommend having one if you visit the pool!

Being at the pool all day works up your appetite, so it was great that we had a dinner reservation at Knife that same night. I can’t rave enough about the food at this restaurant and the service was impeccable. We started out with a wedge salad and Sriracha Pork Belly. Both were amazing, but the pork belly may have been my favorite dish of the entire meal – SO GOOD. We split a 10 oz filet mignon and a few sides: onion rings, creamed spinach and roasted okra. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious too! For dessert we had the chocolate and coffee , another must have when dining at Knife. It’s like a little assortment of different chocolate desserts. I have a huge sweet tooth and that hit the spot.

The last thing on my to do list to experience is the Exhale spa at the Dallas Highland.. The spa graciously provided Jaclyn and I both with hour long True Facials on the last day of our stay. I haven’t had a facial in years so it was much needed! The sweetest ladies took us each into our own individual rooms and gave us the best facials. For me personally, it did wonders for my skin! It’s so refreshing to get a deep cleanse like that every now and then, especially by such an accommodating group of ladies at the Exhale spa. I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back for another facial!

If you’re ever in the Dallas area and looking for a hotel, I would definitely recommend staying at the Highland – I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

xoxo, Whit
